  • Calcium (Calcio):  Macro-mineral, fourth component in the body, after water, proteins and fats. Total corporal calcium, it approximates 1150 grams and is concentrated in 90% of bones and teeth. It is used virtually by all the cells in the body. Not only it helps maintain bones and teeth healthy and strong, it also helps in the normal maintenance of the circulatory, nervous and muscular systems. When a woman does not obtain sufficient calcium from her diet, the body withdraws calcium from the bones to maintain a stable level in the blood. With time, this loss can debilitate the bones significantly and result in osteoporosis. The foods with highest calcium content are lacteous products, dry fruits, sardines and anchovies; with lesser content, legumes, dark green vegetables (spinach, Swiss Chard, broccoli).

Properties:

  • Essential in the preservation of the skeleton and teeth, its deficiency is the principal cause of osteoporosis. This disease is characterized by fragility of the bones produced by a lessening of its mineral contents, which diminishes their density.

  • Calcium takes place in blood coagulation, in the correct permeability of the membranes and also it has an important role as nervous and neuromuscular regulator, modulating muscular contraction (included cardiac frequency), absorption and secretion by the intestines and hormone liberation.

  • Vitamin B6 (Vitamina B6): Hydrosoluble vitamin, that belongs to the Vitamin B complex, also known as pyridoxine. It has a vital function in the body: to synthesize carbohydrates, proteins, fats and the formation of red cells and hormones.  In the protein synthesis, it synthesizes amino acids and participates in the production of antibodies.  Helps in maintaining equilibrium of sodium and potassium in the body. It is found in egg yolks, meats, liver, kidney, fish, lacteous products, whole grains, beans, legumes and dry fruits. Its deficiency can be reflected in the presence of anemia, fatigue, depression, nervous dysfunctions, vertigo, conjunctivitis, nausea and vomit.

Properties:

  • It contributes to the relief of premenstrual syndrome (irritability, apathy, etc). This vitamin can be deficient during pregnancy and when taking oral anticonceptives.

  • It intervenes in the elaboration of brain substances that regulate one’s mood, like serotonin. Thus it helps some people in cases of depression, stress and sleep disorder.

  • It helps in the transformation of carbohydrates and fats into energy for the body; which increments muscular throughput.

  • Has an important role in the synthesis of the general antibodies in the immune system.

  • Helps in the metabolic process of proteins.

  • Helps in the absorption of Vitamin B12 o cobalamine.

  • Helps in cases of nocturnal muscular spasms, leg cramps and sleepy extremities.

  • Sweetscented Bedstraw (Galium Odoratum):  This Tubuliflorae plant has angled stalk, reddish, covered by alternating leaves. The leaves are dark green in the face and whitish in the underside. In the axilae are buds of yellowish flowers. This flowery extremes are used for its medicinal properties. It is considered as one of the oldest medicinal plants in the world. Active principals: Among its larger components are: cineol, camphor, linalol, borneol, alfacadinol, spatulenol, monoterpenes and sesquiterpenic lactones.  Flavonoids: rutoside, isoramnetoside, quercetoside. • Vitamin C : Or ascorbic acid. It belongs, together with Vitamins B to the hydrosolubles: they do not store in the body over long periods and are eliminated in small quantities through urine.  Thus, it is important to ingest daily, because it’s easier to use up this reserves than other vitamins. Protects vitamin A and E from oxidation, as well as some components of the vitamin B complex (thiamin, riboflavin, folic acid, pantotenic acid). Develops anti-infectious and anti-toxic effects and helps in the absorption of iron into the body. Found in Camu Camu, acerola, peppers, guayaba, broccoli, kiwi, orange, pomelo, lemon, strawberries, spinach, Brussel sprouts, blackberries, cauliflower, potatoes, celery. etc.

In the top there is a panache of flowers. The cobs grow in the axila of the large and elongated leaves. The cobs will later have full rows of corn. Purple Corn, (Zea Mays L.) is a variety which cob and grains possess a purple color. There is a natural ingredient that gives it its coloration, a member of the anthocyanins, ciandina-3-b-glucose, a very important anti-oxidant.

Properties:

  • Anthocyanin slows down degenerative processes; as a natural ant-oxidant, it prevents cellular aging; has anti-wrinkle action; protects against cardiovascular disease; reduces LDL cholesterol levels; regulates arterial pressure, increasing blood flow; recommended for hypertension (2).

  • Has diuretic action; has anti-carcinogen properties, especially against Colon Cancer(1).

  • Vitamin E:  Also called tocopherol, this essential fat-soluble vitamin is an antioxidant that helps protect body tissues against damage caused by free radicals. These free radicals cause damage that is part of the degenerative process observed in aging. Vitamin E is a vitamin of youth and beauty, of great importance for the production of energy. For the proper absorption of vitamin E it is necessary to have a proper production of bilious and pancreatic juices (in charge of digesting fats and vitamin E). It can be found in the following foods: wheat germ oil, soybean oil, germ or whole grain cereals, olive oil, green leaf vegetables and dried fruits.

Properties:

  • Antioxidant: Vitamin E is a natural anti-oxidant that protects body tissues from damage caused by free radicals, toxic compounds, heavy metals, drugs and radiation.

  • Helps protect the axonal membrane (in neurons).

  • Helps maintain the proper function of the immune system, helping augment leukocyte levels to prevent infections.

There are two types of horsetail stalks.  The first variety grows at the beginning of spring, has an appearance similar to the asparagus, brown in color and has cones with spores in the upper part. These stalks are called fertile, and are much less resistant than the second type of stalk, the mature form of the plant, which appears in summer. These are called sterile because they cannot exercise any reproduction mechanisms. These sterile stalks are fine and branch out, presenting along their length groves, greenish in color, that resemble a tail with feathers. This plant is rich in silica and potassium; besides, it contains saponine, equisetine, pectic and gallic acids and some alkaloids like nicotine.
